Amy Hawkins joined BNSF Railway as assistant vice president, Federal Government Affairs, in August 2001 and was promoted to vice president in January 2006. She has over 20 years in federal and state government relations and transportation policy experience.

Before joining BNSF, Hawkins was counsel to the office of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, working on issues within the jurisdiction of the Senate Commerce Committee, and was statewide projects director, based in Houston, Texas. She was also counsel for the State of Texas’ Office of State-Federal Relations in Washington, D.C., and worked for Senators Phil Gramm and John Tower of Texas. Her private sector experience includes federal lobbying and public policy consulting.

Hawkins is married, has two sons and resides in Arlington, Va.
