Eno Center for Transportation Welcomes New Board Member from STV, Inc.

Former Secretary of Transportation James H. Burnley Assumes Role as Eno Board Chair

Washington DC – The Eno Center for Transportation is pleased to announce the addition of Joel Oppenheimer to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Oppenheimer currently serves as the Senior Vice President of STV, Inc. He is the firm’s Baltimore office manager and head of STV’s transportation and infrastructure practice in Maryland.

Mr. Oppenheimer brings more than 30 years of experience in transportation planning and engineering design to Eno’s Board. He is active in numerous industry organizations, mentoring young STV engineers, and teaching goal setting, time management, communications and leadership skills through STV University. He was named 2013 Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers, Maryland Section.

“Eno is very excited that Mr. Oppenheimer has joined our Board of Directors. He brings a wealth of professional experience and a personal style and enthusiasm for the issues that is infectious. I have no doubt Joel will bring immediate impact to Eno.” said Robert Puentes, President and CEO.

Eno is also saying goodbye to longtime Eno Board member and chair, Lillian Borrone.

Ms. Borrone joined the Eno Board of Directors in 1993 and served as Board Chair for the past 12 years. Her professional career has included senior policy and executive positions in both the federal and regional governmental levels and as an advisor to distinguished private sector companies.

Ms. Borrone retired from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as Assistant Executive Director. In that role she provided advice to the Executive Director and Board of Commissioners on an array of issues including international trade and development, real estate acquisition and disposition for maritime, aviation and mixed use development projects and on transportation capital management priorities.

The Eno staff and Board of Directors are extremely grateful for the expertise, influence, and time that Ms. Borrone provided over her 23 years on the Board. While much at Eno has changed, she was a stalwart presence on the Eno board – helping to guide the organization through both the good and the bad. Her guidance and industry knowledge have been invaluable over the years. Many of the new and innovative projects and relationships the organization has built have been successful thanks to her support.

Replacing Ms. Borrone as Eno Board Chair is former U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary James H. Burnley.

Secretary Burnley served as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation from 1987 to 1989 and is one of the nation’s foremost authorities on transportation law and policy. He also served as Deputy Secretary of Transportation from 1983 to 1987 and was General Counsel of the Department in 1983. Prior to his years with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Mr. Burnley served as Associate Deputy Attorney General for the Justice Department and as Director of the VISTA Program in the early 1980s.

In addition to his service on Eno’s Board of Directors, Secretary Burnley also serves as co-chair of Eno’s Aviation Working Group.

“Secretary Burnley brings an extraordinary breadth of knowledge and commitment to Eno, its mission and future opportunities. The Board, staff and I look forward to working closely with him in his new role” said Puentes
