Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, March 26th, the neutral, non-partisan Eno Center for Transportation will hold an event on Capitol Hill to present a just-released Statement of Principles designed to give lawmakers a workable starting point as they aim to modernize the nation’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) system in the upcoming Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization. Former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, James Burnley will be one of the speakers.
The 10 principles the Eno’s NextGen Working Group recommends address a wide range of priorities for a successful Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) implementation including protecting the diversity of airspace users; ensuring a consistent and reliable means of funding ATC operation and modernization; allowing the FAA to concentrate more on safety; and reforming budget and procurement procedures.
