Report: Contracted Operations Can Improve Transit Service - A "How to" and "How not to" Guide
On Tuesday October 10th, TransitCenter and the Eno Center for Transportation released “A Bid for Better Transit: Improving Service with Contracted Operations.” The report examines how and under what circumstances public transit agencies can contract bus or rail operations to private providers in order to improve transit service for riders while simultaneously preserving essential labor protections.

New Report Calls for Improvements To Aviation Certification
Today, the Eno Center for Transportation released Safer, Faster, Cheaper: Aviation Certification for the 21st Century. The report, while acknowledging the positive changes that have been made in the last few years, calls for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to continue implementing changes in its aviation certification procedures in order to make certification more nimble and less prone to costly delays.

New Report Finds Flaws in Federal Freight Grant Program
Today, the Eno Center for Transportation released Life in the FASTLANE: Recommendations for Improving Federal Freight Grants. The report finds that while FASTLANE is a significant step in creating a useful federal freight program, there is ample room for improvement. The competitively-awarded program needs to be structured in a way that can demonstrate its effectiveness and be funded in the long term.

Transportation Ballot Measure Database Now Available
This November, the power of the state and local governments in the American electoral process will be forcefully demonstrated. In addition to the presidential drama, another election story, with dramatic lessons about state and local influence, will play out as Americans in nearly half of the 50 states vote on hundreds of measures and initiatives that would support a range of transportation investments in their cities, regions and communities. By Eno's count, there is over $250 billion at stake.
