Washington, D.C. – The Eno Center for Transportation – a neutral, non-partisan think tank – proudly congratulates Keith Parker on being named the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Outstanding Public Transportation Manager for 2015.

Parker, a member of Eno’s Board of Directors, is General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), the 9th largest transit system in the United States. Since Parker took over on December 10, 2012, MARTA’s seen significant improvement and growth, and according to Metro Magazine, his leadership is responsible for “ the first jurisdictional expansion since [MARTA]’s inception more than four decades ago.”

“Keith Parker has demonstrated fantastic leadership skills throughout his transit career and now at MARTA. We are proud to have him as a new member of the Eno Board of Directors where he will play a big role in helping to create future leaders in public transportation,” said Eno President and CEO Joshua Schank.

Keith Parker’s career has included public and private sector experiences in diverse communities around the country, including Virginia, California, Washington State, North Carolina and Texas. Prior to joining MARTA, Parker served as CEO for transit systems in San Antonio and Charlotte where both cities utilized public involvement and technological innovations to improve dramatically the overall transit experience. Under Parker’s leadership, San Antonio and Charlotte enjoyed some of the highest ridership increases in the country while maintaining some of the lowest costs. The agencies won numerous local, state, and national awards in areas such as safety, maintenance, environmental innovations, and overall excellence, and Parker himself won Texas CEO of the year awards in 2011 and 2012.
