Ballot Measures By State

Ballot Measures By State

On November 8, in addition to the presidential drama, another election story, with dramatic lessons about state and local influence, will play out as Americans in over half the 50 states vote on important questions related to transportation investments in their regions.

Eno has compiled a list of the states that have measures up for vote on Election Day and will continue updating this database. The measures under each state are organized by locality, official title, measure identifier, summary, modes, projected revenues, and duration. Because of the different ways these measures are reported, the amounts raised will either be presented as the amount raised per year or the total amount.

For any inquiries, corrections, and omissions, please contact Jonathan Hammond at jhammond@enotrans.org.

(Note: we will be excluding measures that combine transportation funding with other municipal departments. There are also many measures — particularly in Ohio and Michigan — which use a millage tax, which is a property tax. One mill is equal to $1 per $1,000 of a property’s value.)

In the lead up to the election, Eno will feature ballot measures of regional importance throughout the United States. Following the election, Eno will analyze which measures experienced particular success and identify electoral trends of note in 2016.
