Virginia’s Transportation Funding Proposal and the User-Pay Concept

Governor Bob McDonnell’s proposal for funding transportation in the Commonwealth of Virginia has been the subject of a flurry of discussion in the transportation community. The proposal would make Virginia the first state in the nation to eliminate its gasoline tax (although it would keep a tax on diesel, effectively meaning trucks, in place).

Transportation Policy Resolutions for the New Year

2013 promises to be an eventful year for federal policy-making. The entire tax code and virtually all domestic spending programs are likely to be scrutinized as we search for a way to get our debt under control and keep the economy moving. But transportation is likely to be an afterthought.
