Pace of Trump USDOT Nominations vs. the Previous Five Presidents

This table shows the Trump Administration’s pace of senior nominations for positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation (subject to Senate confirmation) and compares that pace with the first years of the terms of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. (The Senate’s online nominee database only goes back to 1981.) The post of FAA Administrator is excluded because, since the 1990s, that is on a fixed five-year term, so new Presidents don’t always get to choose a new nominee in their first year. The numbers in the table are dates (1/20 is January 20).
