This February, Eno has teamed up with the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) to recognize and celebrate diversity in transportation.  We have assembled a list of minorities who are doing important work in the industry. Some are high profile executives, some own their own firms, and others are rising leaders who are working to make transportation more accessible in their communities.  We take great pride in honoring this slate of professionals who are influencing policy and transportation delivery models across the country. In doing so, we hope to highlight the continued need to nurture diversity in our organizations. (Listed in alphabetical order):

Jameson Auten
Chief Transportation Officer at the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, where he is responsible for all transportation service operations. Formerly served as VP of KCATA’s regional service delivery, and Director of ADA Compliance and Customer Relations. Prior to KCATA, was Director of Specialized Transportation at Greater Richmond Transit Company, and ED of Richmond’s RideFinders. MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University; graduate of Eno’s Transit Senior Executive program.

Rashidi Barnes
Senior Manager of Transportation at the Central Contra Costa Transit Authority, where he oversees activities of the Transportation Department and enforces CCCTA policies. Formerly served as Director of Procurement at Foothill Transit in West Covina, Ca., and Western Sales Manager at Transit Marketing Group in Boulder, Ca. Master’s degree in transportation management from San Jose State University. Selected as one of Mass Transit magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” in 2015.

Michael Baylis II
CEO of CI² Aviation Inc., a major African-American-owned aviation management company based in Atlanta and DC that has won FAA and ATCA awards. Receiving an MBA from Georgetown University and has a masters degree in analytics from Valparaiso University. Leadership Board Member at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago and Millennial Board Member of the Virginia-based Equal Footing Foundation.

Dr. Floun’say Caver
District Director at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, where he is responsible for 600 employees. Formerly served as the GCRTA’s Director of Service Quality Management, and held a leadership position in the Office of Management & Budget. Best-known for developing a performance management program that saved GCRTA more than $60 million. PhD in public affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas; adjunct faculty member at the Voinovich School at Ohio University.

Clinton Forbes
ED of Palm Tran, Palm Beach County’s public transportation system. Formerly served as VP of Operations for the Central Ohio Transit Authority, Director of Mass Transit at the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, Senior Executive to the CEO at Miami-Dade Transit, and Executive Transportation Advisor to the Mayor in Miami-Dade County. Bachelor’s degree in public administration from St. Thomas University in Miami. Received COMTO’s Industry Innovation and Leadership Award in 2013.

Jamie Jackson
Deputy ED at the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority, where she is responsible for transportation and land use planning, project management, development, and the implementation of transit-related projects. Formerly Director of Fulfillment at Richmond, Va.-based Astyra Corporation, and Program Manager at the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. Masters in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Adalee Marie Le Grand
Adelee Marie Le Grand is an Associate Vice President with AECOM’s Strategic Planning and Advisory Group. She is a Transportation Market Segment Leader for Transportation Planning in the Southeast and serves as Director of Strategic Initiatives within AECOM’s Asset Management Division. Ms. Le Grand commands a pivotal leader role in Transportation and Asset Management by connecting the diverse disciplines required to deliver quality projects. With Adelee’s management and guidance, AECOM can tally success for several transformational projects including the Atlanta BeltLine Project, the award-winning Old Fourth Ward Park, the first Transit Oriented Guidelines for MARTA, and the Atlanta Streetcar.

Barbara Murdock
Interim ED at the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority. Formerly served as Chief of Staff, where she oversaw all departments within the transit system and directed the company’s marketing, strategic planning, customer service, and external affairs, reporting directly to the ED. Prior to BJCTA, served as Program Director at the Md.-based Seamon Corp., President of her own marketing business, and Media and Diversity Trainer at Eno. Bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Alabama.

Shelby Scales
President & CEO of the Airport Minority Advisory Council, an Arlington, Va.-based nonprofit dedicated to reducing barriers to employment/procurement for minorities and women in aviation. Formerly served as Small Business Program Manager at the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority, and Business Consultant at the Bennington Corporation. Bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of North Carolina; graduate of minority executive training program at Dartmouth College’s business school.

Billy Wingfield
Director of Operations at Valley Regional Transit in Boise, Idaho, where he provides regional support for Valley Regional Transit’s fixed route, demand response, GoRide, marketing, and customer service departments. Formerly served as General Manager of Boise-based Transdev, and Operations Manager of ValleyRide’s ADA County Service. Bachelor’s degree from Boise State University’s College of Business & Economics. Selected as one of Mass Transit magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” in 2013.
