Eno Opens Martin Wachs Memorial Essay Contest

This Wednesday, as part of our Centennial celebrations, Eno launched the Martin Wachs Memorial Essay Contest. The contest is named in memory of a distinguished and impactful voice in transportation, Martin Wachs, who was a long-time friend of Eno. For 100 years, Eno has been at the forefront of policy and practice in the transportation industry. Today, our approach includes our unique model of rigorous, independent research combined with high-quality professional development programs, and expansive and inclusive outreach conversations and methods which all contribute to translate ideas to action. As we look to the future, we are seeking your ideas and recommendations for policies or practices that would help create a better transportation system, that fosters economic vitality, advances social equity, and improves the quality of life for all.

The Martin Wachs Memorial Essay Contest was created to collect and share your great ideas. For this contest, the theme is Coming Out of the Crisis: A Look Past the Pandemic. We are looking for essay contest submissions from both students and professionals. Submissions should be written as a persuasive op-ed, aimed to convince leaders that your recommendation for a policy, innovation, or best practice we should implement as we move from crisis to recovery is the right direction. Share your thoughts on the implications of our collective experiences during the COVID pandemic and what it means for the future of transportation systems and beyond.

Winners of the Essay Contest will be published by Eno and, thanks to the generosity of Linda O’Bryant, awarded cash prizes. The first place full prize package is worth over $4,000. If you are interested in learning more about the prizes, the theme, or how to submit, check out the website and attend our Q&A webinar.
